First full day in NYC and I already have two quarter-sized ripped blisters on my feet. It’s 85 degrees outside but the humidity feels like 90; inside on the fourth floor feels like 95 without air conditioning. And I got turned down from three places for jobs.
However, I got two maybe’s for some coffee joints. The first one is a coffee shop by day, dyke bar by night (FUCK YES) and they are looking for baristas. The chick looked interested (my oh-so-charming-self… hah) So I gave them my resume. The second place was tiny and family owned with an adorable post BU grad boy behind the counter… (with a black eye? [hmm….]) But he asked for baristas and I jumped and then he made me show him my latte-making skills. He was sweet. He may want coffee art out of me, which he can get in due time; if he’s willing to teach. His Polish father was adorable.
Also. I am living in Brooklyn - the non-sketchy oh-so-chic part of Brooklyn. I am on my own, paying rent with my own money, living with my lady and I’m just in a general mood of happiness… which is the first time in a while.
Tonight I go grocery shopping. On $40. haha.
New York’s beating me up, but I don’t mind.
